Gillette Herrington

Gillette Herrington is a Registered Nurse with over 38 years of experience and expertise in the fields of nursing, nursing education, and home health care.  Herrington has a passion for people and helping them be the best that they can be.  She currently works at the Michael E. DeBakey V.A. Medical Center on a mental health specialty unit that uses an intensive, comprehensive approach to treatment tailored specifically for OEF/OIF Veterans to assist them in their recovery and transition back to civilian life.

Herrington was owner and Administrator of H&H Home Health of Monroe, Louisiana for over 10 years.  Upon her return to Texas, she worked as the Director of Nursing for Independent Home Health Care for 8 years.  Herrington has also worked as a staff nurse for St. Joseph Medical Center and Head Nurse at Jefferson Davis Hospital.  In addition, Herrington has worked as a Professor of Nursing at Alvin Community College, North Harris County College, Houston Community College, and Northeast Louisiana University.

A native Texan, Herrington earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University and later obtained a Master of Science Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from Texas Woman’s University.

Herrington is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, and the Prairie View A&M University Nursing Alumni Association.

Herrington is married with 2 adult children.
